Kelly Brannick founded Freez-it-Cleen in 2004 after working 17 years in the aluminum die casting industry. While working in this industry, Brannick researched ways to clean equipment that did not involve water.

In 2005 he left his job and formed Alternative Methods, Inc. and begun representing a few companies to the die casting industry. In 2007 he made a push into to ethanol industry where Freez-it-Cleen pioneered a process using specially designed tools to clean their boilers and stack coil economizers.
